Sunday, September 3, 2017
The air was crisp and the sun was shining on the third day of September in 2017. The world awakened to a new day, and the promise of the weekend ahead. Many people were excited to start their day either doing something out of the ordinary, or simply just relaxing at home.
For some, this day was a chance to engage in their favorite outdoor activity, such as hiking, biking or jogging, while others may have chosen to spend the day at the beach, enjoying the last bit of summer before the start of fall. For many families, this day meant spending quality time together, and perhaps having a picnic in a nearby park.
Others, however, were not as fortunate. Many individuals had to work on this day, missing out on the joys and festivities of the weekend. Nurses, doctors, police officers, and many other essential workers had to report to duty just like any other day. Their work is what keeps society moving forward, even on days like today.
Sunday, September 3, 2017 was also a day of reflection for many individuals who were affected by the devastating hurricanes that had recently struck Texas and Florida. They were left to pick up the pieces of their lives while others were enjoying their weekend. The resilience and steadfast strength of those who were affected was a reminder of the importance of gratitude and appreciation for the simple things in life.
For students, this day signaled the end of summer vacation and the beginning of another school year. It was not something that many of them were looking forward to, as it meant saying goodbye to the carefree days of summer and hello to long days of studying and homework.
The world was still turning on September 3, 2017, and life was continuing as usual, despite the chaos and unpredictability that can come with each passing day. It was a day of both joy and sorrow, but most importantly, it was a day to cherish. It was a reminder to appreciate the present moment, and to never take anything for granted, because tomorrow is never promised.
